I work as a freelance translator with a focus on literary translation, particularly science fiction, historical fiction, and thrillers. I am interested in texts where language does more than simply convey information — where it creates atmosphere, tension, and meaning across cultures and time.
I hold a Master's degree in Translation from the FTSK Germersheim (Johannes Gutenberg University Mainz), where I was trained in both literary and specialized translation. My academic background emphasizes close reading, stylistic consistency, and an awareness of how narrative voice functions within different genres. That foundation continues to shape how I approach every text, whether literary or technical.
Beyond formal training, my relationship with language has been shaped by extended periods of living and working abroad. I have spent significant time in Ecuador and the United States, and traveled extensively through Colombia, Panama, and Costa Rica. These experiences have sharpened my sensitivity to register, cultural subtext, and the ways meaning shifts depending on context, audience, and power dynamics. They also inform my approach to dialogue, characterization, and culturally embedded references — elements that are central to convincing literary translation.
In my literary work, I aim for translations that read with ease and intention in the target language, without drawing attention to themselves. Rhythm, tone, and narrative momentum are as important to me as accuracy. I take particular care with dialogue, pacing, and the subtle stylistic signals that define genre fiction — whether that is the speculative precision of science fiction, the texture of historical settings, or the controlled tension of a thriller.
Alongside literary projects, I also offer specialized translations. Here, my focus shifts to clarity, terminological precision, and functionality, while maintaining the same respect for language and audience. I see this work not as separate from literary translation, but as complementary: both require disciplined writing, careful research, and an understanding of how texts are used.
I work primarily between English and German, as well as from Spanish into German. I collaborate with publishers, agencies, and private clients, and I value clear communication and thoughtful editorial exchange throughout the translation process.
If you are looking for a translator who approaches texts with attentiveness, cultural awareness, and a strong sense of style, I welcome the opportunity to connect.
